The Arcadian, one of Birmingham’s leading leisure destinations, is lending its support to Birmingham Pride again this year, entering a float for the first time.

Staff from Las Iguanas, Ibis, Olivia’s and the Arcadian, which is owned and managed by national property and investment company LCP, will be on board the float, which will have the theme: “eat, sleep, rave, repeat” and feature a DJ.

Birmingham Pride, the UK’s biggest two-day LBGTQ festival, takes place this Saturday (May 26) and has already announced record-breaking advance ticket sales.

Jo Kinsella, Arcadian centre manager, said although it had always supported the festival, which takes place on its doorstep in the city’s vibrant gay village, it decided to step up its involvement this year.

“It’s an incredible event that attracts tens of thousands of people to Southside and The Arcadian, so we wanted to play an even bigger role this year,” she said.

“The theme of the float mirrors what The Arcadian is all about: eating, sleeping and partying and we’re all looking forward to decorating the float with bunting and taking part in the huge parade.”

The Pride Festival takes place on Saturday, May 26, and Sunday, May 27, and will feature headline artists including Rudimental, Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters, Beth Ditto, Stefflon Don, Gorgon City, on the HSBC UK main stage.
