A diet-friendly food outlet has opened at the Concourse Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale to help people source healthy, homemade dishes.

Winners Not Sinners is the brainchild of Denise Cole, a former senior manager specialising in sales and operations management.

The concept behind the brand, which has opened at the Concourse Kitchen, the centre’s street food court, is to make tasty, low-calorie food that is suitable for people trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Denise adapts favourite recipes, including Chinese dishes, soups and burritos, retaining all the flavour without the fat. Now, after operating from her home kitchen for the past two years, she has decided to open her first commercial unit.

She first had the idea 19 years ago and returned to the idea when she was studying for a business management with HR degree. However, she decided to take the plunge in 2017 and began operating from home, quickly building up a customer base.

“Lots of people ask me to work with their diet needs and I have people following Slimming World, Weight Watchers, Keto and so on, but ultimately the key to my food is no fats, lean meat or meat free products, no thickeners and lots of vegetables,” she said.

“Because I pay close attention to the flavour, you wouldn’t know you were eating diet food. My belief is that following a healthy diet really shouldn’t be a chore and sourcing food on the go should be simple.

“As a local Skelmersdale woman, I’m excited to launch my concept at the Concourse Kitchen and am looking forward to welcoming customers old and new, as well as offering daily specials.”

Concourse Shopping Centre manager Gary Mitchell said: “It’s satisfying to see yet another local, independent food operator opening at the Concourse Shopping Centre. We’ve been pleased with the response from shoppers to the Concourse Kitchen so far and we know they’ll welcome another vendor.”

Winners not Sinners will be open from 10.30am-4.30pm Monday-Friday, and 10.30am-3pm Saturdays.

Concourse Kitchen overlooks the centre’s grounds and comprises four affordable food outlets and seating for approximately 40 diners.

Each kiosk is 68 sq ft and has its own water, drainage and electricity supplies and is secured with shutters.
