Magical Mary Poppins, one of the world’s favourite nannies, is heading to the Concourse Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale this week to help entertain the town’s children.

The nanny will head to the shopping centre’s new summer, indoor pop-up park, which has been installed at Concourse Shopping Centre’s East Square, near Wilko, from 11am-1pm on Friday, July 26, where she will meet the crowds, sign autographs and sing some of her favourite songs. You could even grab a selfie with her.

The large chill-out area, which is decked out in artificial grass, with deckchairs, benches and beanbags, will also play host to a range of children’s activities over the summer, until early September.

Every Thursday, at 11am, people can enjoy enjoy a one-hour yoga session, led by NewYou CSI activities, which will also host other activities including pop-up badminton, bike fixing workshops, where you get to keep the bike afterwards, as well as give away free family activity packs.

Throughout the summer, the pop-up park area will be the place to go for fun, free family activities, such as craft sessions, flower headband making, cress heads, bug hunt and circus skills. There will also be musical and other performers entertaining shoppers. Paid-for  activities will include Subway’s Kids’ Build Your Own, which will take place in the pop-up park on Friday, August 16 between 11am and 2pm, when youngsters can create their own Subway sandwich and add with crisps or cookie and drink.

Jennifer Burnett, retail marketing manager of Concourse Shopping Centre, said: “We know the six-week school holidays can be tiring for parents, as they try to look for fun things to keep their children entertained, so we hope this colourful indoor pop-up park will provide a few hours’ entertainment over the summer, even if it’s raining outside.”
