A new dessert shop has opened in Thornaby-on-Tees, North Yorkshire, after commercial property and investment company LCP agreed to let a unit in the Pavilion Shopping Centre.

Melt Desserts, an independently owned shop, serves a range of desserts, ice creams, waffles and seasonal treats, and has agreed a five-year lease for unit 14, St Peter’s House.

Julian Diamond, retail director at LCP, said: “Since we acquired The Pavilion Shopping Centre earlier this year, we’ve been working hard to invest in what is an important retail offer for local shoppers. Welcoming a new, independent retailer is good news because it adds to the vibrancy and diversity of the centre.”

The Pavilion Centre comprises 270,000 sq ft of retail accommodation and is anchored by a 100,000 sq ft ASDA at one end and a 17,500 sq ft Lidl at the other. It also includes the town’s refurbished town library and the leisure centre. Occupiers at include Wilko, Boyes, Home Bargains, Boots and Iceland, plus the Golden Eagle Hotel.
