A growing packing firm has moved to a newly refurbished unit in Worcester after LCP invests £3.5 million in upgrading it.

Springpack has opened its new base after committing to a 10-year lease for Woodside Point, a 81,875 sq ft industrial unit in Williamson Road, with national commercial property and investment company LCP, part of M Core.

The four-bay unit is located on a more than 5.5-acre site and has generous yard areas, dock and level loading door provision, as well as ample parking for cars, vans and HGVs.

Jerry Francis, CEO of Springpack, said its new base is three times the size of its previous home, near junction 6 of the M5, which enables it to continue growing the business.

Springpack has also added a temporary building, taking its total facility to 90,000 sq ft.

“We moved to our previous site, with the aim of staying there for five years, but after three it was obvious it was too small for us as demand for our products was increasing,” he said.

“We worked with LCP to design the office space to our specification, making it a really efficient process for us, and we were attracted to Woodside Point, not just because of the location and the refurbishment, but also the size of the yard, which can accommodate more vehicles.”

Springpack employs about 70 staff – 20 of whom joined the business in the past couple of years. It aims to recruit more next year.

Nick Burgess, LCP Consultant, said: “Woodside Point is a superb facility, close to the city with easy access to the trunk road and motorway network. Having invested in upgrading the unit, we were pleased to have had significant interest from businesses that saw the benefits of its strategic location and from the high-quality facilities. We are delighted to have signed Springpack and wish it well as it continues business from its new home.”

Richard Honnick completed the legal transaction for LCP.
